The word "PROPOLIS" comes from Greek and means "in front of the city", in this case, it is applied to a substance which protect the beehive from outside attacks such as: drafts, humidity, bacteria and pathogenic germs. We can compare PROPOLIS to a sort of putty, with which bees can build an impenetrable barrier for the hive. Outside intruders such as nice, butterflies, snakes are mummified and will not be threatened by infections. - Bee harvest propolis on the bark of some trees. This substance has a high quantity of resins, waxes and essentials oils, and an indissoluble element. For the bees, this substance is a building, insulation and protective material. The analysis of propolis shows, that there very interesting elements, mainly flavonoids, phenols, some trace elements, and some powerful acids, which have great restoring power on the human or the animal organism.
